Spring Steel Snap-in Clip

The Spring Steel Snap-in Clip is an elastic stamped fastener that holds components by springback: the arm deflects on insertion and rebounds to lock in the mating slot. It is blanked from SPCC, SUS301 elastic stainless steel or 65Mn spring steel, with beryllium copper available for higher fatigue or conductivity needs. Elastic-arm thickness is 0.6 / 0.8 / 1.0 mm across a 0.4–1.2 mm range. The clip opens with a springback of at least 3 mm and locks with a closing force of 40–60 N, both tunable to the assembly. Fatigue life is rated for 500,000 open-close cycles with permanent deformation under 0.02 mm, extendable to 800,000 or 1,000,000 cycles. Edges are radiused R0.3 to avoid scratching, and the clip mates with a 0.1–0.2 mm interference gap. Bright nickel and black zinc finishes are standard.

A snap-in clip lives or dies on elastic behavior - if the arm relaxes, it stops locking. Process control over heat-treated spring material and in-cycle springback testing keeps the 40–60 N closing force and ≥3 mm rebound consistent across the batch, so every clip snaps with the same feel rather than loosening after a few assemblies. Because the elastic-arm thickness and heat-treatment condition can be adjusted, the same clip form can be tuned from a light, easy-action latch to a high-fatigue retention part without changing the mating slot.
